Infinity: The Views of a Dreamer

Ode To Ali La Pointe

Ode To Ali La Pointe

Written by Aaron Peterson

Hanging in balance,

seconds tick by as a thundering eternity

Concealed I lie,

shielded from bayonets and rifles of paratroopers

Thirty seconds– the deadline for myself to decide the fate of my brother’s and sister’s lives

Fearing not what may come next in a fiery explosive death,

seen to these naked eyes the systematic torture and gut wrenching crimes of the foe

A fate worse than death to languish on the edge of life,

where no ray of sunshine is to radiantly blight the skin– with it’s glow of freedom

Thirty seconds to pass by,

to decide to live or die?

For is it better to be a servant at the master’s feet,

or a martyr held in the hearts of the people; beating proudly in memory of my final act of defiance

When I signed into the ranks of the resistance,

my fingers were  inked in the darkest of powder for which screamed never to face defeat

A soul weeping in bitter happiness,

for though the lives of my brother’s and sister’s in arms may come to a bloody end– our cause will never die

In a final revolutionary’s prayer,

my eyes inadvertently shudder braced for the inevitable incoming blow

Thirty seconds and no words shall echo from these lips,

to be martyred embracing my brother’s and sister’s in arms than under tyranny; I would rather be
