Infinity: The Views of a Dreamer

The Lock-Out

Jerusalem Slim rambling,
riding the rods from county to county
Telling those scissorbills they ought to unionize,
those bossmen are taking them for fools
Don’t be a Mister Block,
you’ve got to know what side you’re on boys
Are you cats going to stand by,
while the boss man lights up a cherry cigar off your wage?
Now get the dehorn from those lips of yours,
lock in those damned factories until the demands for equal wage are met
The bossman looks down in dread at that boomer,
who shut his factory down, demanding a rightful wage
No fink got past the line,
not a single bloody scab
Now the bossman’s in a fright,
“I’ll give you boys some tender, if you spare my life”
No one’s seen old Jerusalem Slim since then,
but those hard working stiffs carry out his call,
from every factory in the country,
down to the outland plantations — those bossmen fright!
