Pawns to the Game

Soldiers,

pawns to a bloody game

Great games of domination and control,

sent to far away lands filled with the rhetoric of nationalism and patriotism

Pawns sent to die by their masters,

blood spilled in the interests of those who glorified their actions

Madness resulting from their actions,

simply a product of the conditions created by those who glorified their actions

PTSD, slaughter, carnage of civilians,

products of the damned war they were sent to take part in

Inevitably with time,

home they reach again

No grand welcoming,

fogged off by those who glorified their actions in their interests

Poor conditions granted to them,

pawns of the interests of capital with nowhere to go

Homeless, destitute, haunted by the past,

the faces of those they have killed

Nowhere to go, no help, no care

Masters of capital will beat the drums,

fan the flames of war and lead countless numbers of pawns off to their graves

Yet, they wonder why 1,900 and counting have committed suicide upon returning home this godforsaken year 2014 alone
