Opium of the Masses

Diseased, starving, cold to the bone and all alone
From birth without choice mankind is ensnared,
thrown collectively into a churning sea of life inheriting a destiny of despair
Bound to a fate which offers no escape,
salvation that not even the ruse of a cloaked crafty savior can offer
Despite an abundance of wailing, ebullient prayers and chants,
asylum in delusion is the only gurantee given
